OVERVIEW sql2data is a tinydns administration tool written in Perl to allow easy dumping of DNS records from a MySQL database. FEATURES * backups and safe file creation * quiet mode, perfect for cron jobs * compatible with VegaDNS * can be integrated well into a tinydns Makefile (see contrib) * Free (BSD license) REQUIREMENTS * Perl 5.6.1 * MySQL * djbdns (http://cr.yp.to/djbdns.html) * ucspi-tcp (http://cr.yp.to/ucspi-tcp.html) * daemontools (http://cr.yp.to/daemontools/install.html) INSTALL Make sure you have tinydns installed and running correctly. Create a new database called whatever you want and dump the file 'sql2data.sql' into. Make sure you have a user with enough privileges to use SELECT statements on that database. Create a new configuration file from the 'sql2data.conf.sample' file and adjust all settings. Execute sql2data, eventually specifying '-c' for the config file and most importantly '-b' for a first test-run.
